Sakat Chauth is also referred to as Sankashti Chaturthi or Sankatahara Chaturthi.

Sakat Chauth is mostly celebrated in the northern states of India. This year, Sakat Chauth will be celebrated today, January 29, according to Drik Panchang. Sakat Chauth is observed nationwide with much enthusiasm and extravagance every year. On this day, women observe a fast and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha for the happiness and success of their families and offspring. Sakat Chauth is also referred to as Sankashti Chaturthi or Sankatahara Chaturthi. Sakat Chauth falls on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Magh. Some measures taken on this day can prove beneficial for those who are looking for jobs, or want to seek peace and child’s happiness. Delhi-based astrologer Pandit Alok Pandya suggests following remedies to be observed on this day to have a successful and happy life.

Remedies to be taken on the day of Sakat Chauth:

1. Remedies for job: If one wants to get promoted in the job or wishes to get their favourite job, then on the day of Sakat Chauth, one should make a clay ganesha and follow his Panchopachar method. One needs to worship the idol, dress Lord Ganesha in yellow clothes, offer sesame seeds and jaggery to him, offer Arghya to the moon at night, utter their wishes, and eat fruits.

2. Remedies for having a child: If one wants to have a child, then fast for Lord Ganesha on the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha every month. This fast is observed without water; one can only have fruits. On this day, one should wake up in the morning, worship Lord Ganesha as per the rituals, and resolve to fast for the whole day. They should complete their fast by seeing the moon at night, offering Arghya, expressing their desire to have a child. Lord Ganesha will definitely fulfil their wish.

3. Remedy for mental peace: If one suffers from stress and tension all the time, then one should observe a fast on the day of Sakat Chauth and chant the mantra ‘Om Som Somay Namah’ while offering Arghya to the moon in the evening. By doing this, they will be relieved of their stress.
