The solar and lunar eclipses hold a special significance among the Hindus. People often have a keen interest in knowing the timings of them. The solar eclipse is an astronomical event where the moon partially or completely covers the sun. Typically, a solar eclipse occurs once a year, but this year this phenomenon is set to take place twice.

According to astrologers, eclipses have adverse effects on all zodiac signs. Do you know when is the second solar eclipse of 2024? An astrologer named Pandit Rishikant Mishra Shastri from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh spoke about this in an interview with News18.

Astrologer Rishikant Mishra Shastri mentioned that the second eclipse of this year will occur on October 2. The eclipse will start at 9:13 PM and will continue till 3:17 AM the next day. Rishikant Mishra Shastri said, “This will be a very long eclipse, with a period of around 6 hours. However, the eclipse will occur at night and it will not be visible in India. The first solar eclipse of the year took place on April 8t which was also not visible in India.”

The astrologer further mentioned that the Sutak period, a time during which it is advised not to undertake any auspicious activities, begins 12 hours before a solar or lunar eclipse. Pregnant women are particularly advised to take precautions during this time. Although the Sutak period for this solar eclipse will not be observed in India, it is still recommended to be cautious. During this time, one can engage in prayers and chant the name of God.

While this eclipse will not be visible from India, people residing in countries like Argentina, Fiji, Chile, Peru, Brazil and New Zealand will get the opportunity to witness this extraordinary astronomical occurrence. People staying near the Pacific Ocean and South America will also get to watch the eclipse. It is worth noting that the solar eclipse occurs when the Moon, while orbiting around the Earth comes between the Sun and the Earth.
