Actor Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, is set to debut in the Netflix film Maharaja. Netflix released a video featuring glimpses of three films, including Junaid’s debut, along with Vijay 69 and Mandala Murders. While the video revealed the characters’ faces in the latter two films, Junaid’s look in Maharaj remained a mystery, hinting at the film’s grand scale.
Maharaj, that also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari Wagh and Shalini Pandey in pivotal roles, is said to be inspired by the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case. It revolves around a religious leader who sued a newspaper for alleging inappropriate relationships with his female followers. Junaid reportedly portrays a journalist in the movie. In an interview with News18, Shalini had opened up on her experience of working with Junaid. She had said, “Junaid is a very easy breezy human being. He’s a good co-actor to work with. I had a lot of fun working with him. We’re in the same age group, so we had a blast during the shoot. Maharaj is one of his first few projects and so is mine. That’s why we had a very similar energy on set.”
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is producing Junaid’s second film, which will be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. Recently, BTS pictures went viral online, showing Sai Pallavi and Junaid shooting together against the scenic backdrop of Japan’s Sapporo Snow Festival. According to reports, the entire team, including Junaid, remained determined and continued shooting despite the weather not in their favour. To keep the project on track, the team worked 12–14 hours per day. The reports added that Aamir Khan is in constant touch with his son Junaid and the staff to assess the shoot properly.
Junaid is Aamir Khan’s eldest son with his first wife, Reena Dutta. The actor also has a daughter with Reema named Ira Khan. Aamir Khan also has a son named Azad with his second wife, Kiran Rao.
