Actress Prayaga Martin Distances Herself From Gangster Om Prakash, Says She Knew Nothing
Police questioned actors Prayaga Martin and Sreenath Bhasi on Thursday regarding their relationship with the arrested gangster.

Gangster Om Prakash, arrested by Kerala police on Sunday for possession of cocaine and liquor, has maintained his innocence in the drug case. After his arrest recently, he claimed he did not know actress Prayaga Martin but was acquainted with Sreenath Bhasi.

Police questioned actors Prayaga and Sreenath Bhasi on Thursday when they visited a hotel room used by Omprakash in connection with an Alan Walker music show in Kochi last week. Drugs were seized from the hotel room.

“Part of this life is socialising and we meet many people. It is not possible to know if they are criminals. The only thing we can do is behave decently,” Prayaga told reporters after being questioned by police.

Prayaga said she went to the hotel with her friends but claimed to know nothing about the gangster. “I had to Google to find out who he was,” she said.

In an interview with Mathrubhumi News, Prakash claimed he was not involved in drug dealing. “I did not speak to Prayaga Martin. One of my friends approached Sreenath Bhasi. They came at 3 am when I was sleeping and woke me up to introduce themselves. Only in the morning did I realise that the woman who was with them was Prayaga Martin. She was sleeping and did not belong to any group,” he explained.

Prakash stressed, “They did not find any bottles or anything in my room; all that is from Shiha’s room. I have never indulged in any illegal business in my life. There are allegations against me, including links with the sand mafia. Many public events are held in five-star hotels, but when I host one, it is alleged that Om Prakash is hosting a dance party or a DJ party.”

In the inquiry report filed before the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate on Monday, the police claimed that 20 people, including Sreenath Bhasi and Prayaga Martin, visited the hotel room where Om Prakash and his friend Shihas were staying in Kochi.

Acting on a tip-off, the police reached the hotel in Kundannoor and seized a ziplock case containing a tiny quantity of suspected cocaine and four litres of liquor from the rooms of the duo. It was also alleged Prakash was smuggling drugs from abroad to sell them at DJ parties in the city.

The court later granted bail to Prakash and Shihas. The police have chosen to further investigate the links between the actors and Om Prakash. Prakash is linked with 30 criminal cases, including the murder of Paul Muthoot George, a young businessman.
