Alia Bhatt Recalls Anxiety Before Revealing Raha's Face: 'Ranbir Said, What's Your Worst Fear...'

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor made headlines when they revealed their daughter, Raha Kapoor’s face to the world on Christmas 2023. While the public adored the moment, the Jigra actress recently admitted feeling anxious before taking the step and shared how her husband, Ranbir, helped calm her nerves.

Alia appeared on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s popular chat show, What Women Want, which returned with its fifth season. During the conversation, Kareena asked Alia about the constant media attention surrounding their daughter, Raha.

Alia candidly admitted that she’s still learning to find a balance between protecting her daughter’s privacy and embracing the inevitable paparazzi culture. She praised Kareena for handling it “so beautifully” since the start of her own motherhood journey but admitted that she initially feared Raha being photographed in public.

Alia shared a moment from a discussion with Kareena during another appearance, where she expressed concern that Raha was too young to be part of the spotlight. The conversation about whether to reveal Raha’s face had been ongoing between Alia and Ranbir, and just before their Christmas lunch, Ranbir randomly brought up the idea of letting the paparazzi click a picture with their daughter.

The actress spoke openly about her battle with anxiety and how she tends to imagine the worst-case scenarios. Sensing her anxiety, Ranbir stepped in to calm her down.

“He obviously understood that, and he said, ‘Okay, now you’re going to get really anxious, so let’s talk about it. What’s your worst fear?’ We talked all the way from Bandra to Juhu, and finally, I realised it’s true—this is our life. I didn’t want people to think we were hiding her face, but I also didn’t want to make it a big deal,” Alia recalled.

She added that when the moment came, it turned out to be sweet and natural, with Raha holding both her parents’ faces. Alia admitted that while she still feels uneasy about the flashes in Raha’s eyes, she knows it comes from a place of love.

Describing Raha as a “beautiful baby,” Alia spoke about how much joy their daughter has brought into their lives. Kareena chimed in, agreeing, “She is giving everyone that joy.”
