In the wee hours of Saturday, Amitabh took to X and reacted to the box office feat. He reposted a post featuring the box office milestone and wrote, “Quite amazing.”

He also reacted to a few other posts that spoke about the box office records broken after Kalki 2898 AD released. See the posts below:

The Nag Ashwin film heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat. Kalki 2898 AD is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.

Amitabh played the role of the mighty Ashwatthama. The actor’s performance was lauded. Speaking about agreeing to play the role, Amitabh said at the film’s pre-release press conference, “When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for the long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’” leaving everyone in splits.

The superstar continued, “To see something like this which is absolutely outrageous, some of the visuals that you have seen are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project which is so futuristic and possible… and during the making of the film you realise that no matter what he thought of he actually brought all the material, all the effects, every kind of vision that he had to the screen and that’s been really amazing. For me to be just a part of it, has been an experience I’ll never forget.”
