This lighthearted moment underscores the growing excitement for ‘Stree 2,’ poised to be one of 2024’s biggest blockbusters. The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee, and is directed by Amar Kaushik. As a sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Stree,’ the anticipation surrounding ‘Stree 2’ suggests it will replicate the original’s success.

In addition to ‘Stree 2,’ which hits theaters on August 15, Aparshakti Khurana has several other projects lined up. He recently completed filming ‘Badtameez Gill,’ a comedy-drama co-starring Vaani Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, set for release on November 29. Aparshakti will also appear in ‘Berlin,’ a film that has garnered significant acclaim at international festivals, and he has a documentary titled ‘Finding Ram’ in the works.

Speaking about Stree 2, the Amar Kaushik directorial is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree, which grossed nearly Rs 200 crore worldwide. Since the success of the first film, Maddock Films has expanded the universe with several interconnected movies, the latest being the surprise hit Munjya, which earned Rs 130 crore globally.

The trailer for Stree 2 opens with a chilling voiceover introducing a new supernatural threat: ‘Sarkate’, a headless horseman reminiscent of the legendary Sleepy Hollow figure. To combat this eerie new foe, the beloved trio from the first film—Vicky, Jana, and Bittu—reunite and seek the help of Shraddha Kapoor’s enigmatic character. Kapoor makes a dramatic entrance with acrobatic flair, ready to assist the friends and the sagacious Rudra in their battle against Sarkate.

Fans of the franchise will not be disappointed, as the trailer is packed with visually impressive scares and the witty one-liners that have become a hallmark of the series. The humor is sharp, with playful jabs at the film Kabir Singh and the viral meme ‘Sonam bewafa hai’, alongside self-referential jokes featuring Rajkummar Rao.
