Ashutosh Rana REACTS To His Deepfake Video Supporting a Political Party: 'One Has To Be Cautious'
Ashutosh Rana raised concern for the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and argued that one needs to be cautious about it.

Ashutosh Rana has reacted to his viral deepfake video. Recently, a clip of the actor went viral on social media in which he was seen promoting a political party amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in the country.

Reacting to his deepfake video, Rana raised concern about the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and argued that one needs to be cautious. “Today, your face can be added to any video, and that could even lead to your character assassination. And even if that happens someday, I would only be answerable to my wife (Renuka Shahane), my two kids, my parents, who are no longer alive, and my guru. Otherwise, I really don’t care. However, I will say it again, that one has to be cautious. It takes years to build an image and just a day to destroy it,” he told India Today.

Ashutosh Rana is not the first actor who has fallen prey to deepfake amid the Lok Sabha elections in the country. Previously, a video of Ranveer Singh also went viral in which the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor was seen criticising the government. In the clip, Singh was seen urging people to vote for “Nayay (justice)” in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. However, it was then clarified that the viral video was morphed and edited.

Later, Ranveer Singh also took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account to warn all against the rising cases of deepfake videos. “Deepfake se bacho dostonnnn,” he wrote.

Before Ranveer, another deepfake video of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan also surfaced online in which the actor was seen promoting a political party. After the video caught everyone’s attention, Mumbai police came into action and registered an FIR against an unnamed person.

Later, Aamir Khan’s spokesperson also issued a statement and clarified that the viral video was “fake”. “We want to clarify that Mr Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections,” Khan’s spokesperson said in a statement.

“We are alarmed by the recent viral video alleging that Aamir Khan is promoting a particular political party. He would like to clarify that this is a fake video and totally untrue. He has reported the matter to various authorities related to this issue, including filing an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police,” it added.
