Coldplay is coming to Mumbai in January 2025 and a large section of fans were left highly disappointed when the tickets for the globally popular band’s show were sold out in less than a few minutes. The tickets soon started to get sold via the black market at exorbitant prices; Book My Show’s CEO was recently summoned by the Mumbai Police over allegations of a ticketing scam. Amid this, there is speculation on social media that the concert might get cancelled altogether.
Coldplay fans took to the microblogging site, X, and speculated that the concert might get cancelled amid the scams. Fans who waited patiently in the virtual queue but were unable to score the tickets, also took to social media to express their hot takes on the matter. It is important to reiterate that this is only speculation.

Sources suggest that #coldplayconcert could be cancelled over the alleged #BookMyShow scam! It’s such a SHAME that nothing cane be transparent in India. If Coldplay gets canceled in India, it will showcase how ridiculous we are as a society and how, for the sake of money, people sacrificed their ethics by selling tickets on the black market.— Kwitiiinnn (@kwitinnn) September 29, 2024
This comes after BookMyShow’s CEO, Ashish Hemrajani, and the company’s technical head were summoned on September 27 but failed to appear before the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW). These summons follow a complaint regarding the sale of purportedly fake tickets for the highly anticipated concert in Mumbai. The Mumbai Police has again summoned Hemrajani on September 30 amid the probe.
This investigation is based on the complaint of advocate Amit Vyas, who accused the online ticketing platform of black marketing tickets via scalpers and third-party websites at exorbitant prices. However, in a previous statement, BookMyShow distanced itself from scalpers and urged fans to beware of black market scams.

Excitement is high as Coldplay is set to perform in India after eight years. The Grammy-winning band, known for their timeless hits such as Yellow and Sky Full of Stars, will perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, 2025, at the iconic D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium. Originally, there were only two shows in the itinerary but a third show was added due to excessive demand.
There is also buzz that Coldplay is likely to add another show in India. Several unconfirmed reports and posts on X claim that Chris Martin is likely to perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on January 25, 2025. The speculation has left netizens across the country super-excited and as a result, hotel prices in the city have soared. It is important to note that neither Coldplay’s Ahmedabad show nor the concerts being cancelled altogether have been confirmed.
