Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is in judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case, has been shifted to Bellary prison. This comes after a snap of the actor emerged, where he was seen holding a coffee cup and smoking a cigarette lounging on the lawns of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Karnataka. The photo sparked a massive row over the royal treatment being given to the actor. Now, another complaint has been filed against him. As per reports, apart from getting special treatment at the Parappana Agrahara Jail, he was also seen hanging out with rowdy sheeter, Wilson Garden Naga. Along with this, he was also spotted with inmates Nagaraj, the actor’s manager and co-accused in the case and Kulla Seena, a convict in a murder case. The jail authorities lodged this complaint at Parapanna Agrahara Police Station on August 28. A separate FIR has not been registered. Instead, the complaint has been added to Darshan’s existing FIR.
There are reports that after being transferred to Bellary Jail, the actor has been facing difficulties. Reportedly, Darshan reached the Bellary Jail at 10 am on Thursday and was placed in an isolated cell. A few reports state that on the very first night, Darshan struggled to sleep and faced discomfort. In his high-security cell, he has been provided with just a bedsheet for sleeping and probably because of this, he stayed awake until midnight. Reports claim that the accused in the murder case woke up at 6 am and the security staff opened his cell at 6:30 am where he was seen walking in the corridor in front of his cell.
Darshan seemed to be quite relaxed in the Parappana Agrahara. In Bellary Jail, he has been isolated with no contact with anyone. Reportedly, when was being shifted to the current prison, he arrived in an uber-cool look with a branded t-shirt, sunglasses, a jacket and a bottle of water. Instead, he is under strict security and all the necessary measures have been taken as per the prison rules to keep him there. The investigation into Darshan Thoogudeepa’s violation of prison rules is going on. As per reports, a team will investigate to gather information related to the actor.
During the investigation, a close friend and actor from the industry, Chikkanna was questioned if Darshan had offered to bribe or threaten him. Chikkanna answered all the questions during the investigations and also stated that he was unaware of the prohibition regarding meeting the alleged accused. The police officers informed Chikkanna of the legal protocols and emphasised that statements made under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) cannot be altered. If the statements are changed before a judge, it is considered to be a legal violation.
Chikkanna, during his interaction with the media, shared that he received a notice asking him to be present during the enquiry. He also stated that he was unaware of the restrictions imposed against meeting Darshan.
