Tamil actor Dhanush went international in a big way when he played an important role of an assassin in Russo Brothers’s The Gray Man. The movie brought him acclaim on a global scale. Now, Dhanush is on his way to continuing that streak as his latest film Captain Miller has just attained international recognition. Captain Miller has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the UK National Film Awards, a prestigious moment for both Dhanush and the entire team of Captain Miller. You Are Not Alone: Fighting the Wolf Pack (Spain), Bhakshak (India), The Parades (Japan), Red Ollero: Mabuhay is a Lie (Philippines), Sixty Minutes (Germany), and The Heartbreak Agency (Germany) are the other films that have been selected along with Captain Miller at the UK National Film Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film. Now it remains to be seen if Captain Miller makes it to the next stage and wins the award, which will be a huge achievement for the film.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, Captain Miller features a notable cast including Dhanush, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, Nivedhithaa Sathish, and Edward Sonnenblick. The period drama is set in the pre-Independence era, focusing on a crucial chapter in India’s history. The narrative revolves around a militant, who rebels against British colonial rule to protect and support the people of his village, highlighting themes of resistance and solidarity. The film’s music, composed by GV Prakash Kumar, plays a significant role in enhancing its impact. Kumar’s powerful background score is integral to the storytelling, providing an emotional depth that complements the film’s dramatic moments.

Captain Miller released on January 12 this year to positive reviews from critics. Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, the film was a box office success earning more than Rs 100 crore. The film is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
