International music artist Drake has won over Rs 7 crores from a cricketing bet he placed on the India vs Pakistan match, a new report claimed. India beat Pakistan by six runs on Sunday evening as part of the T20 World Cup. Drake had placed his bets on India to win. He took to his Instagram Stories over the weekend to reveal that he has placed a bet of Rs 5.4 crores on India.
As per UK publication Mirror, Drake allegedly won £715,000 (Rs 7.58 crore INR), of which £204,000 (Rs 2.16 crore) is just profits. “The result saw Drake take home a total prize of £715,000 and £204,000 in pure profit. The bet is just the latest in a long line of stakes that the rapper has put down,” the report stated.
For the unversed, India played their second match of the tournament on Sunday. They faced Pakistan in the match. With India batting first, they put a low score of 119, losing all their wickets within 19 overs. Pakistan started off on a promising note, leaving Indian fans worried. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya came to the team’s rescue. While Bumrah took three wickets and gave only 14 runs during the game, Pandya took two wickets and gave 24 runs.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Drake has placed a bet on a cricket match. His bet on India vs Pak match came just days after Drake won Rs. 3.73 crore from his bet on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). According to Mashable India, the rapper and singer had bet $2,50,000 on Shah Rukh Khan’s team. Drake earned over Rs 1.7 cr through the bet.
Besides betting, Drake has been making headlines for his ‘beef’ rap battle with Kendrick Lamar at the Hollywood Bowl. Things took a crazy turn after the two made bizarre claims about each other. Now, comedian and actor Seth Rogen, who was hosting the Bowl on May 7, has revealed that Drake has ‘lost the battle’. Rogen declared Kendrick as his winner because Drake used defensive lyrics when he was hit with certain allegations.
