Expert Explains Significance Of Rajinikanth's Chin Mudra Gesture
Rajinikanth's Chin Mudra even appeared in a poster of his recent release, Jailer, where he is seated alongside Mohanlal.

Rajinikanth, well known for his iconic style and charisma, began his journey in the entertainment industry as a villain in Tamil cinema and has since become one of the most celebrated stars in Indian cinema. Despite making a debut in the 80s, he continues to attract a massive fan following. Meanwhile, one unique feature noticed by his fans over the years is his habit of connecting his thumb and adjacent finger, resembling a mudra, both in movies and during public appearances.

Interestingly, his gesture even appeared in a poster of his recent release, Jailer, where he is seated alongside Mohanlal. While fans have speculated about the meaning behind this gesture, an expert recently clarified that it is called Chin Mudra, which Rajinikanth uses to decrease stress.

The expert said, “The hand mudra followed by Rajinikanth is called Chin Mudra. By doing so, the brain nerves work better. This increases memory. Reduces stress thereby reducing brain stress. It removes anger, insomnia and headaches. Thus, when we sit in this chin mudra, it calms our nerves and keeps us from getting distracted. This is why we use this mudra during yoga.”

Apart from Chin Mudra, Rajinikanth, who previously launched his political party in 2018 (later dissolved), had shared his party’s official logo, a gesture with two middle fingers joining the thumb, while little and index fingers in a standing position. During that time, it was revealed to be Apana Mudra, which helps in digestion and improves stomach-related issues. On the other hand, the die-hard fans of Rajinikanth recalled his 2002 film Baba when they saw this gesture.

Rajinikanth, who last appeared in Jailer, will be next seen in Coolie. As per India Today, talking about the film, director Lokesh Kanagaraj earlier said, “The film will go on floors in June. The entire process will take around one to one-and-a-half years. One month after the completion of Thalaivar 171, we will begin Kaithi 2 with Karthi. So, the work has been going on.”

Interestingly, Coolie marks the first collaboration between Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. As of now, the details about the plot and release date have been kept under wraps.
