Lady Gaga, the global icon known for her undeniable talent, once faced scepticism from her peers at New York University (NYU). During her college days, a group of students even created a closed Facebook page titled “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" to mock her. Stefani Germanotta is the birth name of the singer-actress. But of course, Gaga has proven them spectacularly wrong. In a bold response to her classmates for starting the group, she said, “Some people I went to college (with) made this way back when. This is why you can’t give up when people doubt you or put you down—gotta keep going."
Her comments followed a viral TikTok posted on September 10, which showed the infamous page of the college group insulting her. In a YouTube video by Boxoffice, the page’s cover photo featured an old image of Gaga with brunette hair and a black X on her face.
The next slide of the TikTok video showed the singer triumphantly holding her Oscar, accompanied by a list of her accolades which included 13 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, 18 MTV Video Music Awards and many other honours.
As per the report by New York Post, the now-deleted group, started by her classmates from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, had 12 members at the time.
Gaga, who started singing and playing piano from an early age, had been long open about her struggles with bullying, which began during her pre-teen years. She got early admission to NYU after performing in clubs during high school open mic nights.
“It stays with you your whole life. I remember things that bullies said in front of other people and nobody said anything. Nobody said, ‘Are you OK? Are you fine?’ In fact, if I was to speak up about a bully being mean to me, it would be making it worse for me at school. Being bullied has taught me the importance of kindness because it is something that can be fixed," Gaga said during the Australian television series The Sunday Project in 2020.
Kady Gaga has taken up the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie a Deux, directed by Todd Phillips. She will start alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who returns to reprise his critically acclaimed role as Arthur Fleck aka The Joker. The highly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Joker is set to premiere in Indian cinemas on October 2, two days before its global release.
