Hrithik Roshan Demands ‘Harsh’ Punishment For Kolkata Rape-Murder Accused: ‘Put a Stop To Such Atrocities’
Several other Bollywood stars including Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut have also demanded justice.

Hrithik Roshan has demanded ‘harsh’ punishment for the Kolkata rape and murder accused. On Thursday night, the ‘Fighter’ actor took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle and penned down a long note demanding justice. He mentioned that such incidents must stop and added that it can only be done by giving strict punishments to the accused.

“Yes we need to evolve into a society where we ALL feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen with sensitizing and empowering our sons and daughters. The next generations will be better. We will get there. Eventually. But what in the interim? Right now justice would be to put a hard stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is a punishment so harsh that it scares the living daylights out of such perpetrators. That’s what we need. Perhaps?” Hrithik wrote.

“I stand with the victim’s family in seeking justice for their daughter and I stand with all the Doctors that were attacked last night,” the actor added.

Earlier on Thursday, Genelia D’Souza also called for capital punishment for those responsible for this heinous crime. “Monsters need to be hanged!!! Just reading what the victim went through sent chills up my spine. A woman, a lifesaver who was on duty faced this horror in the seminar hall. My heart goes out to the family and her loved ones – can’t even imagine how they are facing this tragedy. Independence for me would mean when the women in our country can truly feel secure,” she wrote.

Several Bollywood actors have come out, expressing anger and shock over the horrifying case.

Recently, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Preity Zinta also reacted to the incident. “12 years later, the same story, the same protest. But we are still waiting for change,” Kareena wrote. On the other hand, Preity Zinta also expressed anger and called the Kolkata rape and murder case “heartbreaking” and “disgusting”. She further mentioned that it was time to prioritize women’s safety and hoped for strict punishments for the accused.

Previously, Kangana Ranaut also called the incident “horrible” and demanded a CBI probe into the case. Alia Bhatt, Swara Bhasker and Richa Chadha also expressed their outrage and demanded justice.
