Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most awaited films. In the movie, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram. While it has not been officially announced as of now, netizens are sure that KGF star Yash has been roped in to play Ravana in the movie. As per reports, he will wear clothes made from real gold. A source told IANS that since Ravana ruled the ‘Golden City of Lanka’, his outfits are being crafted from actual gold to reflect that.
A source close to the development, shared with IANS, “The clothes that are being made for Yash are in real gold. Actual gold is being used because Ravana was the king of Sri Lanka and it was a golden province at that time. So, all his clothes, whatever is being used, are being made in real gold.”
Meanwhile, if a recent report by Telly Chakkar is to be believed, Yash is likely to get between 20 to 30 per cent of Ramayana’s profit. However, News18 Showsha cannot vouch for the authenticity of the report. Interestingly, Yash is also one of the producers of the movie. In April this year, the actor opened up about co-producing Ramayana but did not mention anything about his role in the film. “It has been my long-term aspiration to make films that will showcase Indian cinema on a global level. In pursuit of that, I was in L.A. to ally with one of the best VFX studios, and to my amazement, the driving force behind it was a fellow Indian. Namit and I had various ideation sessions, and coincidentally, our synergy on the vision for Indian cinema aligned perfectly. We brainstormed various projects, and during these discussions, the subject of ‘Ramayana’ came up. Namit had a part of it in the works,” he told Variety.
According to Telly Chakkar, Yash might get 20 to 30 percent of Ramayana’s profits, though News18 Showsha cannot verify this. Yash is also one of the producers of the movie. In April, he talked about co-producing Ramayana but didn’t mention his role in it.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Ramayana is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 835 crore. “Ramayana is not just a film but an emotion and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a global spectacle. The USD 100 Million ( ₹835 crore) budget is just for Ramayana: Part One. He (Namit Malhotra) plans to expand this further as the franchise grows. The idea is to take the audience on a visual treat with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram,” a source close to the film’s production told Bollywood Hungama.
