Arshad Warsi’s ‘joker’ comment on Kalki 2898 AD star Prabhas has not gone down well with many. While the Jolly LLB actor has been facing criticism for his remark, recently, Saswata Chatterjee also defended Prabhas as he opened up about Warsi’s words. Chatterjee, who played the role of Commander Manas in the Nag Ashwin directorial, called Prabhas the best choice for the movie.
“I don’t want to say anything about him (Arshad), that’s his opinion, not mine. As a matter of fact, Prabhas looks like a larger-than-life man. His screen presence is extraordinary. He was the best choice for this role. He is absolutely amazing in the film,” Chatterjee told India Today.
Saswata Chatterjee is not the first actor who has expressed disappointment with Arshad Warsi’s comment. Previously, actor Sudheer Babu also slammed Arshad Warsi for his comment and called him ‘unprofessional’. “It’s okay to criticize constructively but it’s never okay to bad-mouth. Never expected the absence of professionalism from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas’s stature is too big for comments coming from small minds,” Babu wrote on X.
Nani also seemingly mocked Warsi and said, “The person that you’re referring to, this must be the most publicity he has got in his life. You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter.”
Before this, director Ajay Bhupathi also expressed his outrage over Arshad Warsi’s comments on Prabhas. He talked about Prabhas’ his contributions to Indian cinema and accused Warsi of being jealous of the Baahubali actor. “#Prabhas is the man who has given everything & will do anything to take Indian Cinema to the world audience, a Pride of our nation. We can see the jealousy on that film, on him in your eyes just because you’ve faded out & no one gives an eye to you. There’s a limit & a way to express our opinion… Seems like you’re the one that you’ve said about him,” he wrote.
For the unversed, Arshad Warsi appeared on ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’ last week when he talked about Kalki 2898 AD. Arshad said that he loved Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as Ashwatthama in the Nag Ashwin directorial but was not impressed by Prabhas’ look. “I watched Kalki 2898 AD which I didn’t like. Mujhe bahut takleef hoti hai jab… Amit ji was unbelievable! I cannot understand that man. I swear, jitna power unmein hai, thoda sa mil jaaye toh life ban jaaye. He’s unreal,” the Jolly LLB actor said.
“Prabhas, I am really sad but, why was he like a joker? Why? I want to see a Mad Max yaar, I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana diya yaar. Kyun karte hai aisa mujhe nahi samaj mein aata hai (What have you made it. Why do filmmakers do this, I will never understand),” he added.
