Malavika Mohanan, renowned for her stellar performances in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, recently made waves with her Bollywood action film Yudhra, which released on September 20. In a candid interview with Filmygyan, she opened up about her long-standing friendship with Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, offering a glimpse into their special bond that dates back to childhood.
During the rapid-fire segment of the interview, Malavika affectionately referred to Vicky as a “forever friend.” She elaborated, saying, “I have known him since I was 1 year old. He is my oldest friend. We were neighbors and lived in the same building bachpan mein (during our childhood). And that’s how our families became friends. And since then we have been family friends.”
Malavika went on to share sweet memories of a childhood picnic they took to Aksa Beach, where they packed chips and sandwiches and spent the day playing by the shore. Reflecting on the present, she revealed that they still meet every Diwali, calling it a cherished family tradition. “We keep meeting every Diwali. We celebrate together every Diwali. That’s like a family tradition we have,” she added.
For those unaware, Malavika attended Vicky Kaushal’s wedding to Katrina Kaif in Jaipur, where she shared glimpses of her time in Rajasthan via Instagram, subtly avoiding direct mentions of the wedding itself. In one post, she shared a stunning selfie from her car, captioned, “Hello from one of my favorite states in India – Rajasthan,” while donning a chic purple outfit and stylish shades.
Earlier, Malavika also celebrated Onam with Vicky and their families, sharing heartwarming photos on social media. One of the images showcased the duo’s joyful smiles, with Malavika captioning it, “Childhood friends, family, yummy food & lots of laughter. Best way to spend Onam! PS – The ‘M’ in the flower arrangement is for ‘Mohanans’ #OnamSadhyaPhotoDump.”
On the career front, Yudhra marks Malavika’s second venture into Bollywood after her Hindi debut in the 2017 film Beyond The Clouds. Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his role as Sambhaji, the Maratha emperor and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji, in Laxman Utekar’s Chhava. He is also set to appear in Love and War alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
