Suraj Venjaramoodu, one of the most critically acclaimed actors in Malayalam cinema, has turned producer after proving his acting mettle in 20 years of career. He has named his production company Vilasini Cinemas after his mother Vilasini, a homemaker. Suraj has teamed up with the producer Listin Stephen, the owner of the production company Magic Frames for the project. This film has been temporarily titled Production No 31.
The pooja ceremony of this film was held at Kolluru Shri Mookambika Devi Temple, Karnataka. At this auspicious occasion, Suraj’s family members were present as well. Ashif Kakkodi penned the storyline of this film while Aamir Pallikkal will be directing this film. Grace Antony, Vinaya Prasad, Raffi and Sudhir Karamana will play key roles in this film.
Shyam Mohan, Prashant Alexander, Shaju Sridhar, Sajin Cherukail, Vineeth Thattil and Dilna will also play important roles in Production No. 31. The genre of the film or further details have not been specified by the makers. As per reports, the shooting of the project is expected to begin soon, with a theatrical release by the end of this year.
In his two-decade-long acting career, Suraj Venjaramoodu has become one of the most sought-after actors in the Malayalam cinema with hits like Jana Gana Mana, Driving Licence, Thondi Muthalum Driksakshiyum etc. Like his father Vasudevan Nair and elder brother Saji Venjaramoodu, the 47-year-old actor initially wanted to join the Indian army. However, he failed to do so because of a bike accident.
In an interview, the Jana Gana Mana actor talked more about his childhood. He said, “There was financial insecurity when I was growing up. My father wanted us to focus on education. He didn’t like me doing mimicry and club activities.” Suraj’s father is now a film buff, who never misses any of his son’s films, the actor revealed.
Suraj is married to Supriya Venjaramoodu and is the father of three children. The actor will next appear in the film Grrrr.
