Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi, known for his role in Manjummel Boys, was arrested following a hit-and-run accident in Kochi. The incident occurred on October 8, when the car driven by Bhasi struck a biker near the Kochi corporation office, according to Mathrubhumi.com. The actor reportedly fled the scene without stopping, prompting legal action. Bhasi’s driving license has since been suspended by the Ernakulam RTO for one month.
The victim, Muhammad Faheem, a resident of Chullikkal, Mattancherry, sustained injuries in the accident. Faheem alleged that Bhasi’s car was speeding when it hit him. Despite the impact, the actor continued driving, leading witnesses at the scene to identify the vehicle and lodge a police complaint.
After reviewing the case, Kochi police arrested Sreenath Bhasi based on the eyewitness account. Although Bhasi was released after questioning, the Regional Transport Office intervened and suspended his license for a month due to the nature of the hit-and-run incident.
Bhasi’s Previous Legal Troubles
This is not the first time Bhasi has been involved in legal matters. Earlier, he was questioned by Kerala police in connection with a narcotics case linked to notorious gangster Om Prakash. Prakash and his accomplice were arrested for allegedly distributing cocaine at DJ parties in Kochi. While Bhasi’s name surfaced during the investigation, the police did not find enough evidence to take action against him.
Manjummel Boys Success
On the professional front, Sreenath Bhasi recently gained widespread acclaim for his role in Manjummel Boys. The film, a massive blockbuster, follows a group of friends from the Manjummel locality in Kochi who embark on a vacation to Kodaikanal. The film’s box office success was historic, becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, with earnings surpassing Rs 200 crore. This record-breaking performance overtook 2018, a film based on the Kerala floods.
