Great news for The Night Agent fans! Shawn Ryan’s action-packed thriller has officially been renewed for a third season, even before the debut of its highly-anticipated second season. On Tuesday, October 8, Netflix revealed the release window for season 2 with a new look and also confirmed the season 3 renewal. According to the announcement, The Night Agent season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix in winter of 2025, with work on the next installment expected to begin soon.
In another gift for fans, Netflix released two new pictures from the second season, featuring Gabriel Basso. It is pertinent to note that season 2 was originally slated for a 2024 release; however, the date seems to have been pushed further.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production for the third part will begin later this year in Istanbul and will continue in New York after New Year.

What Happened In The Night Agent Season 1?
With creator Shawn Ryan, the first season came out in March 2023, becoming a major breakout and bagging a spot on Netflix’s Top 10 Most Popular English Language Series. In season 1, audiences saw Peter Sutherland (Basso) helping save the US President’s life, which gave him a chance to become a Night Agent. In the end, he could be seen taking off from Washington, DC, in a private jet on his first mission as a Night Action spy.
The second season is expected to pick up from what happened next in his life as a secret spy. “Working in the secretive organization of Night Action will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply,” explains Netflix’s logline for season 2. While the first part was based on Matthew Quirk’s 2019 book of the same name, it is yet to be seen if they follow the same series.
“When I pitched it to Netflix, I essentially said that it is an ongoing show, but each season will be its own self-contained story. And then future seasons would have very few characters porting over from the previous season. We’re not trying to keep seven or eight characters going throughout multiple seasons. And I also pitched the idea that we’d be in a different world with different circumstances each season,” said Ryan to ComicBook.
