Fans worldwide are in deep grief following the sudden passing of Liam Payne at the age of 31 in Argentina. According to police reports, the former One Direction singer fell from the third floor of his hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood, resulting in severe injuries. Since the news broke, tributes have been flooding in from fellow musicians, industry figures and his devoted supporters across the internet.
Amid the online mourning, an old video of Liam Payne has resurfaced on the internet, showing the late singer covering an acoustic version of Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself. In what is believed to be his final performance in 2022, Liam could be seen inside a stripped-back set at a private venue, singing a few of his solo hits along with the Bieber song from his fourth studio album, Purpose.
In the video, Liam showed off his vocal techniques with his guitar player in company. Written by Ed Sheeran and sung by Justin Bieber, Love Yourself even made it to Billboard 100’s Year End list in 2016. The song made the Hold On singer the youngest musician with a No.1 track on the charts.
It is worth mentioning that Liam Payne often spoke about the friendly connection between Bieber and One Direction. Speaking to MirrorOnline in 2019, the late singer opened up about a rumoured feud between the band and Bieber and said, “Me and Justin had a really long chat once in his trailer. There had been 1D and Justin Bieber beef at the time I went in to say to him: ‘It’s all good. You don’t need to do whatever.’ Then we had a really long chat. He’s a really nice kid."
Similarly, Justin Bieber once also went out to appreciate the band’s song, Diana. Taking to the X (formerly known as Twitter), he wrote, “That new One Direction song Diana is well written. Well done boys."
Liam Payne’s Works
After One Direction’s disbandment, the members went their solo ways, with each one of them focusing on their own single careers. Liam Payne also released his solo debut album, LP1, in 2019; however, he wasn’t quite active throughout the years. According to The Sun, the late singer had plans to release his long-awaited second album; however, things remained on pause.
