Oppenheimer Star Clay Bunker Wants Cillian Murphy To Be The Next James Bond
Cillian Murphy's Oppenheimer co-actor Clay Bunker recently shared his views and said that the actor will beautifully portray the role of James Bond.

Basking in the success of his latest release with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy is clearly at the top of his game right now. Already having bagged several major awards including the Golden Globe, SAG Award, and BAFTA, Oppenheimer is now gearing up for the upcoming Academy Awards, looking forward to bringing the Oscars home. While fans remain quite eager for the award-winning actor’s next film, Cillian’s Oppenheimer co-actor Clay Bunker recently shared his views, advocating that Murphy should be the next James Bond.

In a conversation with The Sun, Clay Bunker while mentioning that Cillian Murphy will beautifully portray the role of Bond further added, “It’s funny because he (Cillian Murphy) is the nicest human and has that dark side. There is a darkness to Bond. We forget that sometimes Bond is like the character that Fleming created – a pretty dark character. He just happens to be on the side that we call good. Cillian has that ability to tap into that.”

The actor further also drew comparisons with Cillian Murphy’s previous roles in Peaky Blinders and Batman, stating that the actor has already portrayed similar characters in some of his other projects.

Meanwhile, after Daniel Craig’s 15-year-old stint as James Bond came to an end in 2021, makers are yet to announce who will take on the iconic role next in the franchise. While several names have surfaced regarding the possible next 007, there are no confirmed developments about the bond casting so far.

Cillian Murphy is presently gearing up for his new project titled Steve, in which he will act and also produce the film.

Director Tim Mielants, best known for his work in Peaky Blinders, recently joined hands with Murphy once again for Steve. Said to be adapted from Max Porter’s novel, the upcoming film’s screenplay has been also penned by the author himself.

A Netflix original film, Steve will focus on a headteacher of a home for disturbed young men, delving into the 24-hour period of his life while amid the challenges of managing students and grappling with mental health issues.

The release date of the film is yet to be announced; however, the shooting is expected to commence in spring 2024.
