Rajkummar Rao Recalls Being Duped Of Rs 10,000 In His Early Bollywood Days
The actor said it was the most difficult task to get a break in Bollywood.

Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor recently went to The Great Kapil Sharma Show to promote their recently-released movie, Mr & Mrs Mahi. The film is directed by Sharan Sharma. Produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions, Mr & Mrs Mahi has collected Rs 16 crore in four days. In an interaction with Kapil Sharma, the actor recalled the time when he was scammed while he was trying to break into the entertainment industry. He said that he did not have any work for two years. He debuted with the movie Rann in 2010. It was written and directed by Riteish Deshmukh. He gained fame with the film Love Sex Aur Dokha.

While recalling his early days, Rajkummar Rao said it was the most difficult task to get a break in Bollywood. He said that it took him two years to get to work on the first film.

‘It was the most difficult task for me to get a chance in the first film. It took me 2 years. I used to go in search of work every day. I had no other option because I wanted to do acting only,” said Rajkummar Rao. His struggling days involved going to auditions, rejection, and a scam.

Rajkummar Rao said that he was once duped at Rs 10,000, and was promised he would get a break in the TV industry. “It was a filmy scene. I used to cycle from Gurgaon to Delhi. I had read a newspaper clipping about a show being made for Zee TV. I didn’t know the difference between TV and films; I just wanted to act. I called them and they invited me for a meeting. I rode my bicycle to South Extension,” said Rajkummar Rao.

He said that it was a typical office and a man there had photos with everyone – from Gulshan Grover to Raza Murad. The company asked him to pay Rs 10,000 for the photoshoot. “My mother borrowed the money, and somehow we paid him the amount. But when I went back after three days, the whole office disappeared. The office was locked. I asked people around, and they told me those guys had run away,” said Rajkummar Rao.
