Bindu Nanubhai Desai is a former Indian actress who ruled Bollywood in the 1970s. She appeared in over 160 films throughout her four-decade career, earning seven Filmfare Award nominations. Bindu started her acting career with the 1962 film Anpadh, which starred Balraj Sahni, Dharmendra, Mala Sinha and Shashikala in the lead roles. After this, she starred in popular films like Ittefaq and Do Raaste. But she came into the limelight for her role as Shabnam in Kati Patang 1970 and for her films opposite Prem Chopra. With her charisma and charm, the actress had become the queen of the glam world.
Bindu has worked with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Anupam Kher and Jeetendra. According to reports, she came to showbiz to become a lead actress, but the industry made her a villain. In the 1990s, she started taking the role of a negative mother-in-law in every film. The actress who gained recognition from Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh’s film Kati Patang was known for her negative roles as well as her amazing dance in her time. Talking about her personal life, Bindu had fallen in love with her neighbour, Champaklal Zhaveri, at the young age of 15. The two got married when Bindu was just 18 years old. They had an age difference of five years, and thus, they faced familial opposition, but nothing could stop them from getting married. Moreover, Bindu broke all the stereotypes and entered the film industry to reign as the iconic vamp of Hindi cinema.
