Riteish Deshmukh On Days He Faced Back-To-Back Flops: ‘Everyone Has A Different Journey’:

Riteish Deshmukh is all set to make his web series debut with the medical thriller, Pill. The actor has been around in the industry for over two decades and has worked on versatile films. Be it a romantic drama like Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, comedy hits such as Housefull, or an intense thriller like Ek Villain, the actor has proved his mantle. But this journey was marred with highs and lows. In his recent interview, Riteish opened up about the time his multiple films flopped and he was sure that his career in the entertainment industry was over.

In conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Riteish Deshmukh was asked if he felt undermined as an actor and that his true potential had not been tapped so far. Reacting to this, the actor revealed, “Mujhe aisa laga tha ki meri pehli film jo thi vohi meri akhri film hogi. (I had thought my first film would be my last film). But I feel that I have achieved more than I should have. That’s why I never think that I should have gotten more or anything like that.” He believes that he has got more than what he deserved.

Further, on being asked if he was upset about the fact that he had to work on multi-hero films more often, Riteish confidently stated, “Everyone has a different journey.” He added that from doing a film like Tujhe Meri Kasam to delving into comedy, the actor went with the flow.

Speaking in depth about his journey, the actor mentioned that while he was ready to quit early in his career, he went on to work on several projects and eventually, it started working for him. He recalled, “At one point, I had five unsuccessful films in a row, and I thought, this was it so I will be ye khatam pack up, I will go back to architecture whatever. And then after that, I had seven successful films. So then again, you feel okay fine, you’ve got a certain lease of life in the industry. I have never taken this career too personally.”

Riteish Deshmukh’s upcoming web series Pill is directed by National Award winner Raj Kumar Gupta and produced by RSVP movies’ Ronnie Screwvala. It dives into pharmaceutical scams and unethical medical trials.
