We have seen Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman work together in the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine. Even before that, the two actors have been quite popular for their humorous exchanges and infectious camaraderie. Now, with October upon us, it’s time for a double celebration as they both prepare to mark their birthdays this month. Recently, fans got a glimpse of their festive spirit through a delightful Instagram post shared by their Deadpool & Wolverine director, Shawn Levy. The photo features the two stars, Jackman, who will be turning 56 on October 12, and Reynolds, who will celebrate his 48th birthday on the 23rd of this month.
They pose beside a stunning flower-covered, three-tier birthday cake. Their surprised expressions show the excitement and joy of celebrating another year of their life and friendship. Levy, 56, didn’t miss out on the fun either. He joined the pair for several group photos that he shared in the subsequent slides. “October is the best month for buddy birthdays. A perfect fall day celebrating early with two of the BEST,” Levy wrote in his caption.

While Reynolds and Jackman have forged a strong friendship, it’s interesting to note that Levy’s relationship with Jackman predates Reynolds. Jackman had a keen sense of their potential bond long before they even met.
Reflecting on a conversation from the set of their 2011 film Real Steel, Levy recalled Jackman’s words to People in April. “Hugh said, ‘For what it’s worth if you ever meet and work with Ryan Reynolds, you’re never going to stop’,” Levy said. “That was 2010,” he added.
From that point on, Levy and Reynolds developed an incredibly close friendship. They spend a lot of time together, particularly since they live just half a block from each other in New York City, informs People. “More than I’ve spent with any male friend since literally high school,” Levy mentioned.
According to People, the trio has been spotted around New York, creating memorable experiences together, including a fun-filled outing at a Jets-Chiefs game with Taylor Swift last year.
In an October 2023 interview, Levy reflected on the journey that brought him closer to Reynolds. He said that he not only met Reynolds but also had the chance to direct him in Free Guy (2021) and The Adam Project (2022) before working on Deadpool & Wolverine.
