Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga teamed up for their first movie, Animal, which has done well at the box office. Although they collaborated recently, Ranbir knew about the director’s work since his debut film, Arjun Reddy. After the Telugu drama’s release, Ranbir even texted him, but the filmmaker missed it as it was an SMS.

In an interview with Dainik Bhasker, Sandeep mentioned he stopped checking text messages regularly because most communication occurs on WhatsApp.

“He (Ranbir Kapoor) SMSed me. Ever since WhatsApp has come, the habit of checking SMS has gone. I stopped checking SMS because everyone uses WhatsApp. Ranbir actually showed me the message also I think. Like this, I have missed a lot of people’s messages. Anil ji, Anil Kapoor had also messaged,” the filmmaker shared.

When asked if the director and actor had talked before, and if there was a chance for Ranbir to be in the Hindi remake Kabir Singh, Sandeep quickly said, “No, Ranbir very clearly said that he wouldn’t do a remake. So, I knew.”

Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has been performing phenomenally well at the box office despite its controversial depiction of violence and misogyny. However, the ones condemning it for its content and others finding it intriguing have made the film a huge commercial success. One man grabbing all the headlines is Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of Animal.

With just two films, Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga became one of the most prominent filmmakers in the country. While we all know the director that Vanga is today, only a few are aware of the struggle he has had to go through.Animal features Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. The film, within a week, earned Rs 563.3 crore at the global box office.
