Sonu Sood Reacts As Kangana Slams Him Over Equating Spitting in Food to Ramayana: 'Time Spent Explaining...'
Sonu Sood faced backlash after equating a food vendor spitting in the dough of rotis to Lord Rama eating Shabari's berries in the Ramayana.

Sonu Sood recently faced significant social media backlash after equating a food vendor spitting in the dough of rotis to Lord Rama eating Shabari’s berries in the Ramayana. Actress-MP Kangana Ranaut reacted on X (formerly Twitter), said, “Next you know Sonu ji will direct his own Ramayana based on his own personal findings about God and religion. Wah kya baat hai Bollywood se ek aur Ramayana.” This controversy was stirred following a viral video of a man spitting on dough while making rotis for his customers.

Sonu Sood had earlier taken to X and reacted to the video. He had written in Hindi, “Our Shri Ram Ji ate the sour berries of Shabri, so why can’t I eat them? Violence can be defeated by non-violence my brother Humanity must just remain intact. Jai Shri Ram.”

He drew attention to Ramayana where it was said that each day, Rama devotee Shabari would leave her ashram with a walking stick to gather berries for the Lord. She would pick a berry, taste it, and if it was sweet, she’d add it to her basket, discarding the bitter ones. She aimed to offer only the best berries to Rama, unaware that offerings should not be tasted.

Reacting to Kangana’s comments, Sonu wrote in Hindi, “I have never justified those who spit in food. It is their character which will never change. They should be given severe punishment for this. But let humanity remain humanity, friend. The time we spend in explaining to each other, we should spend that much time on the needy people! By the way, let me tell you all ,, I am the biggest fan of the work of the UP government. Every house in UP, Bihar is my family. Remember, no matter what state, city, religion, if you need anything, let me know. The number is the same.”

The video of a vendor spitting in food was a reply to Sonu Sood’s reaction to the Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar authorities’ rule requiring eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners’ names. Sonu had said that “humanity” should be the only name displayed.

What's your reaction?
