The Telangana Government has made a pivotal decision concerning the regional film industry, Tollywood, and its representation on both national and global platforms. In a recent meeting led by the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, emphasis was placed on addressing the industry’s challenges. He also encouraged members to highlight and promote Telangana’s rich culture at an upcoming award function.
As per the reports, it was the first meeting conducted for the Gaddar Cine Awards Committee, held at the Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat on October 14, Monday. During the meeting, the Deputy CM highlighted the importance of taking Tollywood not only at the country level but also to the global stage.
The meeting took place to determine the guidelines for choosing a winner at the Gaddar Awards, which will be organized by the state government. As per more reports, Bhatti Vikramarka assured that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is ready to address and resolve any issue being faced by the film industry.
The Deputy CM then praised Gaddar, someone who represented their culture, calling him the “people’s battleship.” Speaking further, he added, “Gaddar is a legend; such a person may not emerge again for a century. He has moved people with his songs addressing global issues.” According to him, the icon has had a significant contribution in promoting Telangana’s state dance and music. Everywhere, across the state, the people try to be like Gaddar, he added. The man firmly believed that the key to solving the country’s issues is its constitution and always promoted it.
In the meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka explained to the members, that the state has decided to introduce the awards after considering all the important aspects. He said, “The Gaddar Awards can be presented across all fields, similar to other awards.” He added, that every member in the film industry is worthy of respect and that the government is aiming to make every award prestigious.
The meeting was attended by Ramakrishna Rao, the Special Chief Secretary, along with Narsinga Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Hari Shanker and other committee members.
