Nikitha said in an interview, “MasterChef has truly been a guide for chefs across the world and like countless others, I too have been inspired by the magic of the show. As a child, it instilled in me a passion for cooking, which eventually made me a professional chef”.

According to the celebrity chef, her journey is now complete and she is now on the other side of the table, judging the incredible talents in MasterChef Telugu. She further says, “These 10 home cooks come from different backgrounds but they have one thing in common – a deep love for food. It’s incredible to see his passion and innovation in the kitchen”.

Nikitha’s journey as a chef was not easy. Her parents did not approve of her career choice. Nikitha shared in a previous interview that in her family, becoming a chef was not even considered a career option. One could either work in the corporate or software sector or perhaps as a CA. Nikitha’s parents were also aware of the fact that the profession of chef was very male-dominated. There was no one around to guide them.

Nikitha rebelled against her family, claiming that they would be responsible if she had to follow a path they chose. Finally, her parents relented. Soon after, NikithaUmesh applied to IIHM Bengaluru and was admitted as a student. During her time at IIHM, she apprenticed under a chef and worked as an assistant at the Bocuse D’or (named after legendary chef Paul Bocuse) gastronomy competition in Singapore. It was a culinary odyssey; Umesh was blown away.

“That one experience opened my eyes to the world of chefs and what you can do with food in so many different ways. It motivated me to stand on a central stage and compete with the best gourmet talent from around the world,” she said.
