'Thought I Can't Do It': Jyothirmayi On Stuthi Song From Bougainvillea
Actress Jyothirmayi even thought about how to back out of the dance for the Stuthi song, considering breaking her leg to escape from it.

Actress Jyothirmayi shared her experience with her upcoming Malayalam film Bougainvillea. After a long gap, she is returning to acting and she mentioned that it was at the insistence of her husband, Amal Neerad, that she took the role in Bougainvillea. Jyothirmayi shared her experience in an interview with Mathrubhumi News.

She explained that during the long break, no one approached her for films. It was her husband’s insistence that brought her to Bougainvillea. The actress also discussed the promotional song Stuthi in the film. It has been almost ten years since Jyothirmayi donned the actor’s cap again.

Regarding the dance in the Stuthi song, she said she felt quite nervous when she first heard about it. She wondered how she would do it, as it had been years since she danced, and she hadn’t even been exercising. The choreographer taught her the steps very simply.

Jyothirmayi candidly expressed that there was a moment when she thought, “Oh God, I can’t do this." She even thought about how to back out of the dance, considering breaking her leg to escape from it.

However, the choreographer’s team offered great support. They trained them carefully and made them practice slowly, she added. Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad with Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Jyothirmayi in lead roles, is set to hit theatres on October 17.

The much-awaited trailer of Bougainvillea was released a few days ago and it exceeds all expectations. Known for his action-packed visual spectacles that blend drama and thriller elements, Amal has ventured into new territory this time and created what looks like a psychological thriller that sends chills down the viewers’ spines at every turn.

The 131-second trailer, released on Wednesday, while offering a glimpse into the world of the film, also cleverly holds back much of the plot, leaving viewers curious and wanting to know more. Accompanied by a haunting score, the trailer begins with Reethu (Jyothirmayi) running through a field of sunflowers, which soon turns out to be a nightmare.

The trailer then flashes back to a car accident involving her and her partner Roy (Kunchacko Boban). “After this mishap, her behaviour, speech and memories are a bit confused," Roy is heard saying. “She is fixated on bougainvillaea," he adds, mentioning that she now devotes herself solely to painting. Nevertheless, we also see that she is close to her children.
