Everyone’s favourite sassy cat, Garfield, is back. The upcoming Garfield movie is set to hit theatres this month, promising yet another hilarious adventure. To cater to a wider audience in India, the film is dubbed in Hindi and the voice behind the lasagne-loving cat is none other than Varun Sharma, known for his comedic role in Fukrey. And now the Hindi trailer is out and it has already sparked a wave of excitement among fans.
In the new movie, Garfield embarks on an exciting adventure as he reunites with his missing father, Vic, who is street-savvy unlike him. Alongside his loyal companion Odie, they set off on a hilarious journey that promises to keep audiences entertained. The newly released trailer kicks off with Garfield peacefully enjoying his favourite lasagna with extra cheese. As the trailer unfolds, we witness Garfield’s everyday life at his owner’s house, where he frolics and plays with his feline companion, Odie. However, his world is turned upside down when he encounters his estranged father, Vic. Determined to save his father, Garfield embarks on a series of adventures with Odie by his side, leading to an action-packed and humorous escapade.

Varun Sharma has lent his voice to Garfield in the Hindi version. Reflecting on his experience of dubbing for The Garfield Movie, Varun Sharma shared with Bollywood Hungama, “Lending my voice for Garfield has been like revisiting a cherished childhood character. I’ve always connected with his quirks, and the entire dubbing process was a nostalgic journey, bringing back fond memories from my youth."
Directed by Mark Dindal, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 17, 2024. Paul A. Kaplan, Mark Torgove and David Reynolds have penned the screenplay. The production team includes John Cohen, Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove, Steven P. Wegner, Craig Sost, Namit Malhotra and Crosby Clyse. Sony Pictures will oversee the global release of the film. This installment marks the third in the Garfield franchise, following the successes of 2004’s Garfield: The Movie and its 2006 sequel, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.
