Vasan Bala Says Karan Johar Has His Back Amid Jigra Controversies: 'Ye Sab Jo Jaawe, No Matter...'
Karan Johar said he will 'always' have Vasan Bala's back despite the controversies surrounding Jigra.

Director Vasan Bala is assured that Karan Johar has his back despite the several Jigra controversies. The filmmaker reposted an article that lauded Jigra and asked Karan to always have Vasan’s back amid the criticisms. The article was first posted by Alia Bhatt. Vasan reposted the story and said that Karan has always been supportive.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Vasan shared Alia’s Story and wrote, “They have my back, kujj na howe. Ye sab ho jaawe no matter what.” Karan reposted Vasan’s post and assured him, “Always and forever.” Check out the exchange below:

The posts come amid strongly mixed reviews to Jigra. While a section of the critics thoroughly enjoyed and celebrated the film, there was also a section of the press who was not impressed by the film. News18 Showsha gave the film 4.5 stars and wrote, “Jigra serves as a perfect palate cleanser and gives hope that Bollywood’s good times aren’t over yet. Jigra is audacious, trailblazing, sugar, spice, and everything nice and is a must-watch. Don’t miss this one.”

Jigra has also landed in controvery with regard to its box office collections. Divya Khossla has not only accused the film of copying her film, Savi, but she also accused the filmmakers of manipulating box office collections and faking ticket bookings. ““Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics; she’s already well-established. But true heroism is in speaking against wrongdoing. Let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power,” Divya told Hindustan Times.

The film also drew controversy after Vasan said he was unhappy that Karan shared the film’s incomplete script was sent to Alia. Although he immediately clarified that he meant that he wanted to gramatically clean the script, a section of the internet misunderstood his statement and the nepotism debate emerged yet again.

Despite all this, Jigra recorded an opening box office collection of Rs 16.75 crore.
