Abhishek Banerjee is currently enjoying the success of Stree 2. The film features Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. The story revolves around a headless creature that terrorizes the residents of Chanderi. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Banerjee spoke about a scary real-life encounter. Recalling his childhood days, the actor-director said, “I was very scared of ghosts in my childhood”. When asked if he had seen ghosts, Abhishek replied, “Ghosts are not just seen, they just exist.”
Recalling a ghostly experience in Delhi, Abhishek Banerjee revealed, “It happened once in Delhi. I was travelling in an autorickshaw and saw a figure in a white saree. So I told the driver to slow down as a woman was standing in front of him. The auto driver said, ‘There is nobody in front, sir. Don’t look up, don’t look up.’ He started accelerating the vehicle. And in that split second when I looked up, I didn’t see anyone right in front of me.”
Abhishek Banerjee added that the eerie incident took place in Kailash Colony. He later came to know that it was a “common” phenomenon and many Delhi residents had come across the figure clad in a white saree in the past.
The actor played the role of Jana in Stree 2. The horror comedy also features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana in important roles.
He started his acting career in Delhi doing theatre. He worked in the DD show during school days. His first film appearance was in Rang De Basanti, as one of the students auditioning for a documentary role. He moved from Delhi to Mumbai in 2008. In 2010, he worked as a casting director in Knock Out. In 2010, he also acted in Soul of Sand. In 2011, Banerjee worked as a casting director in The Dirty Picture and No One Killed Jessica. He also acted in No One Killed Jessica in 2011. He worked as a casting director in Bajatey Raho and Mickey Virus in 2013. He also acted in Bombay Talkies in 2013.
