The hype for Yash Raj Spy Universe seems to have intensified ever since Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathaan dropped earlier this year. The universe is all set to expand further with announcements of films like Tiger Vs Pathaan and War 2. As reported earlier, Ayan Mukerji will be helming the sequel to Hrithik Roshan starrer and if sources were to be believed, the director has decided to rope in big stars like Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan into the equation. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
As per a source close to India Today, Ayan Mukerji is all set to commence shooting from this month onwards, since the muharat of War 2 is already underway, “The muharat for ‘War 2’ has already happened. Ayan is looking at starting shooting for the film this month itself. While Hrithik is currently in Italy for ‘Fighter,’ he will soon return to commence shooting for ‘War 2’. In the meantime, shooting with NTR Jr might begin. Kiara Advani has also been locked as the female lead for the action-thriller.”
The source explained that War 2 will be the first film in the YRF’s spy universe that will bring together Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan in a single film. It stated, “The film is exciting for several reasons but also because Ayan’s directorial will be the first film in the YRF spy universe to bring the three megastars together. The epic Tiger X Pathaan X Kabir union onscreen will happen in ‘War 2’.”
Meanwhile, It is no secret that Jr NTR has also joined the spy universe and will soon be seen in War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan. If a recent report by Bollywood Life is to be believed, the RRR actor will soon be formally welcomed in Aditya Chopra’s spy universe by none other than ‘Tiger’ aka Salman Khan.
Reportedly, Aditya Chopra has planned a ‘brief introduction’ of Jr NTR in Salman Khan’s much-awaited movie Tiger 3, which is also a part of spy-universe. It is being said that once Jr NTR is introduced in Tiger 3, Kabir (played by Hrithik Roshan) from War 2, Pathaan, and Tiger will go on a mission to find the villain. However, News18 Showsha cannot vouch for the authenticity of the report.
It was previously Jr NTR will be playing the role of an antagonist in War 2. “While the final script is still being developed, Jr NTR’s character in War 2 will have some negative shades, which will add an interesting layer to the overall story,” a source cited by Pinkvilla claimed in May this year.
War 2 marks the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes previous films like Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2022), and the upcoming Tiger 3 (2023). This film will continue the storyline from Tiger 3 and eventually lead to the highly anticipated showdown between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the film Tiger v/s Pathaan.
War starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the lead and was released in 2019. It became the highest-grossing film of the year in India, earning over Rs 300 crore at the box office.
War 3 will be directed by Ayan Mukerji and is reportedly in its pre-production stage. Besides Hrithik and Jr NTR, the film is also likely to star Kiara Advani. However, there is no official announcement regarding the actress being a part of the spy-universe film as of now.
