Britney Spears often shares glimpses of her dance routines and workouts on social media, but she recently surprised fans by recalling an incident that happened back in April 2020. In a typical Britney fashion, the Oops I Did It Again singer recalled the time on Instagram when she accidentally burned down her home gym. Spears posted a shocking photo on Instagram showing the aftermath of the fire. The image revealed the gym’s burned workout equipment like dumbbells, kettlebells, treadmills, spin bikes and more, covered in ash. During the time, the Gimme More sensation had assured her fans that the fire was a complete accident when news of the incident initially emerged.
Amidst Spears’ dance and workout posts, the recent image came as a shocker for her followers. The picture featured major damage in the room. The gym’s floor appeared entirely grey and the mirrors were covered by layers of ash. This unfortunate incident sheds light on a previous candle related mishap, which happened in 2002. During the time, reports surfaced that she nearly caused a fire in a New York City apartment building after unintentionally leaving a burning candle unattended while she was out with a friend. Sharing the recent post, the singer wrote, “Reflecting back remembering when I burnt the gym down in 2020.”

During the initial phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grammy Award winning artist Britney Spears had disclosed that the fire incident happened after she left lit candles unattended. Sharing the details in the caption, she had recalled noticing the fire suddenly while passing by the gym door. During the time of the fire, Spears had confirmed that it was an accident and expressed regret.
Sharing the video, she had written, “By the Grace of God, the alarm went off after that and yippy hoorah nobody got hurt. Unfortunately, now I have only two pieces of equipment left lol and a one-sided mirror gym. But it could be much worse so I’m grateful. I like working out better outside anyways.”

Britney Spears’ recent social media update comes amidst the reconciliation attempt by her ex, Justin Timberlake, during a recent Las Vegas show. Timberlake was on the stage at Fontainebleau hotel and addressed the criticism he faced from Britney this year. In her memoir, The Woman in Me, the singer accused Timberlake of influencing her to take difficult decision regarding an abortion. This disclosure reignited curiosity about Timberlake’s 2002 hit Cry Me a River, reportedly inspired by their tense breakup. Now, more than two decades later, Justin acknowledged the song’s controversy and offered an apology to Britney before performing it in Vegas.
