Castaway Diva Team Leaves Stones Scattered On Jeju Beach, Apologises After Complaints
The drama team reportedly left thousands of stones abandoned after the shooting, with some onto the road connected to Olle Trail Course 10, causing an obstruction for Jeju citizens.

The production team of the Korean drama Castaway Diva has reportedly issued an apology concerning the insufficient restoration process following the completion of filming. A controversy recently emerged when suspicions arose that a drama team had left a substantial quantity of stones, utilised in production, unattended on a Jeju Island beach. These stones perfectly matched those used in a scene where the main character of the popular drama creates an SOS signal with rocks on the beach, reports Soompi. Additionally, some reports also indicated that the production team failed to undergo the necessary process of obtaining cooperation and permission from the administrative city for the use of public waters during filming.

On November 13, the local newspaper Jeju Sori reported that a renowned drama crew, which recently filmed on Jeju’s Hwanguchi Beach, left behind a multitude of stones used for shooting. Thousands of these stones were abandoned, with some appearing to have spilled onto the road connected to Olle Trail Course 10, causing an obstruction for Jeju citizens. A local resident reportedly noted a resemblance between the stones left behind and those featured in the tvN drama Castaway Diva.

“I have often seen dramas being filmed in Jeju, but this is the first time I have seen such irresponsibility of not cleaning up after things,” said the resident. “Recently, even at drama scenes filmed in the city, there are a series of complaints filed due to noise or traffic restrictions, but in this case, the issue seems to be more serious in that it is damage to nature,” he added, as per Naver TV Entertainment.

Following this controversy, on November 14, the production team reportedly clarified their decision. They explained that they decided to leave the stones in place for additional filming. This decision was made after consulting with town officials.

However, as the controversy continued to escalate, the production team released an official statement later that day expressing apologies for the inconvenience caused to residents. and also apologised for their action. “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the citizens and would like to offer our deepest apologies,” the team said, reports Naver TV Entertainment.

Castaway Diva is a romantic comedy-drama featuring Park Eun Bin as Seo Mok Ha, an aspiring singer stranded on a deserted island while en route to Seoul for an audition. The drama signifies the reunion of director Oh Choong Hwan and writer Park Hye Ryun, who previously collaborated on While You Were Sleeping and Start-Up.
