'Had No Idea About It': Monaz Mevawalla On Dayaben’s Re-entry In Taraak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
At the beginning of this year, producer Asit Modi ensured Disha Vakani would return as Dayaben in TMKOC.

In Hindi television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) is one of the most-watched TV serials. The programme has been running for almost 15 years with great success and has amassed a large fan base. However, it seems like the makers of the show have brushed the fans the wrong way. Fans are now boycotting the show because the creators falsely promised that Disha Vakani, also known as Dayaben, would return to the show, something that has not happened.

At the beginning of this year, producer Asit Modi ensured Disha Vakani would return as Dayaben in TMKOC, and fans were eagerly waiting to see her back in comic action. However, the entire year went by and the character of Dayaben did not appear, causing the trend of Boycott TMKOC on social media.

While the producer has apologised for not having brought back the character of Dayaben to the screen on time, actress Monaz Mevawalla has also talked about the same. Monaz Mevawalla has started playing the character of Roshan Daruwala Kaur Sodhi this year, a character that earlier used to be portrayed by Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal. Monaz had now replaced Jennifer in the role.

Talking about bagging the role, she said that she already knew most of the cast and crew as they had already worked with her and her father. She also wanted to act alongside Dilip Joshi, she said and that she was happy. About Dayaben’s re-entry into the sitcom, Monaz said that she was as clueless as the audience about it. She said that they had no idea about when that would happen but mentioned that all of them on the set were very eager to shoot with Disha Vakani.

Disha Vakani used to play the role of Daya Jethalal Gada in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. In 2017, she took an indefinite maternity leave, and she hasn’t come back since. TMKOC just finished a 15-year run. It debuted on July 28, 2008, and is aired on Sony SAB. The Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society serves as the setting for the television series, which centres on its diverse membership.
