India began their T20I series against Australia with a bang and will now be looking to clinch the series on Sunday. The India versus Australia bilateral series has been packed with action so far. The hosts won the one-off Test towards the beginning before the Aussies whitewashed the Women in Blue 3-0 in ODIs. In their first T20I game, however, India were able to bag a nine-wicket victory over the Australian women.

Indian bowler Titas Sadhu scalped four Australian batters to curb the visitors at 141 runs. In the next half, Smriti Mandhana scored a brilliant half-century while Shafali Verma added 64 more runs in just 44 balls. She scored a whopping six boundaries and three sixes in that innings. The duo’s incredible performances were enough to help India cross the finish line with more than two overs to spare. They will be hoping to produce a similar performance in their second game to bag the series early.

India’s second T20I game versus Australia will be hosted at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on January 7. The Aussies had an evening to forget in their opening T20I game against India. Phoebe Litchfield scored 49 runs in just 32 balls in that match. Whereas Georgia Wareham picked up the only wicket for her side when she dismissed Smriti Mandhana in the 15th over of the second innings. After a woeful showing in Mumbai, the Aussies will be looking to bounce back in the second T20I.
