Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest film, Animal, is one of the most talked about films of the year. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in prominent roles, the film has become a massive hit at the box office. However, in true Sandeep Reddy Vanga fashion, the film has also created quite a controversy for its rather triggering scenes. One such scene is when Ranbir’s character asks Rashmika’s character to not remarry in the event of his death.
The filmmaker spoke about the scene recently. He told Galatta Plus, “In relationships, most of the time, you’re done. Multiple partners could be a habit. Once you’re with one person, the share of love with that one person, you are done for life. That could be the exchange between Geetanjali and Ranvijay. And knowing the psyche of Geetanjali, there are so many things in a relationship that are unsaid, so he must have felt that she can’t make it with anybody else, so she’d better remain single.”
“He doesn’t want his kids to be seeing Geetanjali with another father. It has nothing to do with a generalised feeling, it’s purely personal. The pseudo-feminists looked at it and said, ‘Oh, so he can sleep with another woman, but she can’t marry again’. I found it very funny,” he added.
While Sandeep rakes in the success of Animal, the filmmaker already has other projects in the pipeline. His next project is the film titled Spirit featuring Prabhas and an untitled project with Allu Arjun.
“I am very excited for Spirit. He (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) has told me the lead character and it’s a very interesting part for Prabhas… The Allu Arjun film will be again different. It will be Sandeep’s style of filmmaking with Allu Arjun. They (Spirit and the untitled Allu Arjun film) will have a new world, new emotions and new drama. There is no point in making a routine film with a big star,” he told Pinkvilla earlier.
