Asian Games Medal Tally: India 4th With 95 Medals, 102 Assured; 22 Gold, 34 Silver, 39 Bronze

A historic outing on Day 13 of the Asian Games saw the Indian contingent assure themselves of a historic century of medals. India’s medal tally in Hangzhou stands currently at 95 medals, but the contingent is assured of at least 102 medals after 13 days, with a couple of days still to come. On October 6, it rained medals in multiple sports, which helped India remain steady in 4th place in the overall medal standings.

India won a total of 9 medals on Day 13, including a gold medal courtesy of the Indian men’s hockey team who beat Japan 5-1 in the final.

Two silver medals also arrived on Friday, the men’s recurve archery team won one, while the men’s bridge team added another.

India also won six bronze medals, a historic first in women’s Regu Sepaktakraw, one by the women’s Recurve Archery Team.

India’s highest-ranked singles men’s badminton player HS Prannoy won bronze after losing his semifinal while three medals came in wrestling.

Sonam won a bronze in the 62kg freestyle wrestling, Kiran won another in 76kg and Aman also added another in 57 kg freestyle.

Courtesy of the 95 medals won, India remain steady in 4th place in the overall medal standings with a total of 22 gold, 34 silver and 39 bronze medals. Uzbekistan remain India’s nearest challenger, they are fifth with 20 gold, 18 silver and 26 bronze with a total of 64 medals to show.

China, the hosts continue to sit pretty atop the standings, they have won 353 medals so far, they have won 187 gold, 104 silver and 62 bronze medals.

Japan are second with a total of 165 medals including 46 gold, whereas the Republic of Korea are third with 169 medals, but 36 gold.

India are assured of three medals in archery, two medals in Kabaddi, a medal in Badminton and a medal in cricket which would take India’s overall tally to 102 medals.

There are chances of winning more medals in the remaining events on October 7 and October 8, the Indian women’s hockey team will fight for bronze against Japan, and India could bag two medals in chess, one each in men’s and women’s team events. Another four medals could arrive in the remaining wrestling events.
