Passengers have been stuck inside their flights for hours at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport as other planes, in queue, have been unable to take off due to bad weather conditions.
Several flights have lined up on the runway post landing. This is because no parking space is available for these flights.
The airplanes on ground, scheduled for departure, have been unable to take off owing to the dense fog and low visibility.
For the last two hours, passengers have been stuck inside their flights despite having landed at the airport.
While, Akasa Air posted an update on the microblogging site X and said that their flight schedules have been affected at Delhi, Chennai, Varanasi, Bagdogra and Lucknow due to adverse weather conditions. “Our teams are working continuously to assist all our customers. Kindly check your flight status before leaving the airport,” it said.

The national capital, on Sunday, recorded its coldest day with the minimum temperature at 3.5 degrees Celsius. Dense fog engulfed the city, while the visibility was recorded at zero metres in parts of Delhi and north India.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), IGIA – Delhi’s Palam, recorded zero visibility amid the dense fog conditions since 5:00 am today.
Amid this, at least nine flights approaching Delhi were diverted to Jaipur and Mumbai earlier this morning. Meanwhile, operations of as many as 22 Delhi-bound trains were also delayed.
Sunday’s fog has been termed to be the worst level of fog this season.
For the first time this winters, zero visibility has been reported from Amritsar to Dibrugarh across Ganganagar, Patiala, Ambala, Chandigarh, Palam, Safdarjung, Bareilly, Lucknow, Barhraich, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Assam’s Tejpur.
Dense fog covers were also reported from over Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
