Weeks after declaring the result for the JEE Main February attempt, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to conduct the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021. This year the exam is being held four times a year and the highest NTA score obtained by a student will be counted for the rank list. While multiple attempts give a chance for candidates to increase their score, experts recommend only those who are not satisfied with their Mains February score should give it a second go while the rest should start preparing for JEE Advanced – IIT entrance exam. Others believe that students should give as many attempts as they can before inclining towards board exam preparations.
Nitin Vijay, MD, Motion Education said, “Students who didn’t get a good score or those who are not satisfied with their result in the first attempt can appear for the March session. After the first attempt result, students might know their mistakes, they can improve them while attempting for this session. Keep practicing and working hard to score well to get the best results for admissions in NITs.”
Since the board exams will be held in May, aspirants should try to make the most of the March attempt as they would start preparing for boards thereafter, said Asheesh Sharma, head JEE & NEET, BYJU’S. “All the JEE aspirants must appear in the March attempt even if they have appeared for February Attempt. In the May and June CBSE board exams are scheduled which creates psychological pressure, to overcome it students must appear in the March attempt.”
Those appearing for the March attempt should be focused on increasing their score. “It becomes essential that the student, basis his own analysis and experience, develops a mindset and confidence of taking up which subject to start with in order to get maximum right answers. This is not the time to learn anything new but to consolidate what one has already learned. Focus on the revision of important formula steps, assumptions should be on top of the mind of the aspirant. The most important factor is to focus on your strengths; revise your strong topics to avoid skipping on any question,” said Saurabh Kumar, academics director, VidyaMandir Classes.
IMPORTANT TOPICS TO REVISE
Based on the February attempt question paper, Asheesh Sharma, Head JEE & NEET, BYJU’s enlisted the following topics as most dominant in the exam –
The mathematics section had matrix and determinant, integration, vector and 3D, application of derivatives were most dominant.
In physics – modern Physics, kinetic theory of Gas, and thermodynamics, electrostatics, and semiconductor were asked in February and hence hold importance for March attempt too.
For chemistry, the most dominant topics include aromatic compounds, amine, chemical bonding, and metallurgy.
According to Nitin Vijay, MD, Motion Education the most important topics to revise for the March attempt are Vectors & 3D, matrix and determinants, differentiability and continuity, definite integration, complex number & conic section for mathematics.
For chemistry, biomolecules from chemistry in everyday life, environmental chemistry, purification of organic compounds, and polymers.
For physics, modern physics, semiconductor, thermodynamics, doplar effect, the moment of inertia, current, electricity and capacitance, magnetic force.
Kumar from VidyaMandir Classes listed the following as important topics –
Physics: Magnetism & matter, EM Waves, Diffraction & Polarisation, optical instruments, communication systems, semiconductor devices, rotation, thermodynamics, electrostatics in addition to the mainstream syllabus.
Chemistry: Inorganic chemistry especially each line of NCERT should be read and memorised with data, Name reactions, flame test & organic concepts in addition to the mainstream syllabus.
Maths: Differential equations, vectors & 3D, matrices & determinants, sequence & series, mathematical reasoning, application of derivatives, indefinite integral in addition to mainstream syllabus.
JEE Main March exam will be held from March 16 to 18 across 331 cities. JEE Main March admit card is available at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
