India batting superstar Virat Kohli is celebrating his 35th birthday today and wishes are pouring in on social media and elsewhere. Kohli is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game.

At the start of his international career, Kohli was known for his in-your-face attitude and often courted controversy for his on-field demeanour. His aggressive celebrations – be it scoring a hundred or at the fall of a wicket – earned him fans and critics alike.

However, he’s admitted that phase is now a story of the past. Though his century celebrations aren’t as animated as they were, his wicket celebrations continue to be a reminder of how he used to rile up opponents.

Kohli meanwhile has debuted a new hairstyle on his birthday with pictures of him sporting the new look going viral on social media.

India are scheduled to play South Africa in what will be their eighth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the Rohit Sharma-led side will aim to maintain their unbeaten streak.

The contest will be played at the Eden Gardens and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has grand plans to celebrate Kohli’s birthday.

As per various reports, there are plans to distribute thousands of Kohli masks to the fans for the match besides fireworks, laser show, a special gift and a birthday cake.

Kohli has been in fine form in the ongoing world cup having struck 442 runs from seven innings and currently third on the list of top run-getters. He has scored one century and four half-centuries playing a vital role in helping India seal a semi-final spot.

India’s next aim will be to finish at the top of the points table. They will be up against South Africa who have lost just one match out of the seven they have placed and are the second team to have advanced to the semis.
