Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at the Congress party after the Income Tax department seized around Rs 350 crore cash from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu.
The Prime Minister made a reference to the popular Netflix show ‘Money Heist’ and said Congress “heists are legendary for 70 years”.
Sharing a video posted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) showing crores of cash seized during ongoing I-T raids in Odisha, PM Modi on X wrote, “In India, who needs ‘Money Heist’ fiction when you have the Congress Party, whose heists are legendary for 70 years and counting!”

Titled as “CONGRESS PRESENTS MONEY HEIST”, the BJP earlier in the morning shared a one-minute clip showing stacks of the money recovered by the I-T department officials during the Odisha cash haul linked to Congress leader Dhiraj Sahu. The video also featured Rahul Gandhi dressed as one of the characters from the Netflix drama, getting super excited on seeing the pile of currency notes.
The Prime Minister earlier on Friday, December 8, slammed the Congress over corruption following the cash recovery and said the money looted from the public would have to be returned. Taking to X, he wrote, “Countrymen should look at the pile of these notes and then listen to the honest ‘speeches’ of their leaders….Whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will have to be returned, this is Modi’s guarantee.”

Odisha I-T Raids
The Income Tax Department seized a record Rs 350 crore in cash during the raids conducted at the properties linked to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu in Odisha and Jharkhand. The cash haul is believed to be the “highest-ever” in the country by an agency against a single group and entities linked to it.
While the Congress has distanced itself from the cash recovered from the premises linked to its leader stating that only Sahu can explain the cash recoveries, BJP escalated its attack on the party with Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying that it is now clear that the Opposition’s “propaganda” about probe agencies being misused was due to the fear that their corruption will be exposed.
