New Delhi: Following a drubbing in MCD polls, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey resigned on Wednesday.

The party came a distant second, winning only 48 out of 272 wards.

Pandey, a crucial cog in the party's machinery, was overseeing MCD campaign and strategy along with AAP's Delhi in-charge Ashish Talwar.

Two days before the poll results, Pandey had expressed apprehension that the MCD poll results could be "rigged" and the ground for it was being prepared by "floating" exit polls predicting a BJP sweep.

The AAP has even lost from areas that were considered strongholds of the party.

The party also lost in constituencies of senior party leaders like deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Somnath Bharti and Alka Lamba.
