Chandigarh: Former Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary K.N. Govindacharya Saturday said BJP's prime ministerial hopeful L K Advani is "not prepared" to hold the responsibility.
"It is not the right time for Advani to become the prime minister as he still has to go a long way to reach that position. Support of only a few people is not enough. They cannot decide the fate of the country," Govindacharya told reporters here.
Govindacharya, once a blue-eyed boy of Advani, quit the BJP in 2000 to go on study leave and recently re-entered politics by accepting to become the 'sarvesarva' (overall in charge) of Uma Bharati's Bharatiya Jan Shakti party.
"There is a widespread turmoil going on in all political parties and our leaders are only fulfilling their vested interests. Here nobody is bothered about the welfare of the nation," he said.
Govindacharya said there was infighting in the BJP too. "Infighting is there in every party. Everyone wants to gain benefits and grab big positions. The BJP is no different from Congress as both of them follow similar ideologies to garner votes."
"The BJP has to evolve some scientific theory of working if they want to succeed. Only on the personality basis, they cannot sustain for long," said Govindacharya.
