Jaipur: After getting a clean chit from the Centre in former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi row, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday reached Delhi to attend a NITI Aayog meeting. In a big relief to Raje, the Narendra Modi government also gave a clean chit to her son Dushyant Singh.
Sources said that while no formal meeting is planned between Raje and the BJP leadership but if she wished to meet Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, she will be granted an appointment.
Sources said that the Centre reviewed documents submitted by Raje and found no irregularities in them. No wrong doing has been found in deals between Dushyant Singh's Niyant Heritage and Lalit Modi's Ananda Heritage, the sources added.
Earlier on Friday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to discuss the issue.
The Rajasthan unit of the BJP also came out in open support for the embattled Chief Minister who herself rubbished reports about a signature campaign by her to demonstrate backing of 120 MLAs.
"All allegations against Raje are baseless. By levelling such allegations, Congress is indulging political vendetta against her and targeting decades-old family relations between her and Lalit Modi," state unit president Ashok Parnami said.
He asserted that the BJP was fully with the Chief Minister who had been elected by the MLAs.
Raje also dismissed media reports about a signature campaign by 120 party MLAs in her support.
The government is currently facing Congress-led opposition heat over help extended by Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to Lalit Modi regarding his travel documents in the UK.
