Patna: Taking a leaf out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Chai pe charcha' campaign, JD(U) on Wednesday launched 'Parcha pe charcha' (discussion over pamphlet) in which people were told about the "good work" done by Nitish Kumar government.
Bihar JD(U) President Basistha Narayan Singh launched 'Parcha pe charcha' programme in Patna on Wednesday.
Under the programme, general public was given 'parcha' (pamphlet) with details of works done by the Nitish Kumar government in the state. The pamphlet also mentioned poll promises of the prime minister on which his government had allegedly gone back.
After one programme in the morning, another 'Parcha pe charcha' is listed in the evening in which JD(U) MP RCP Singh, a close associate of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, would be present at the 'chaupal' (gathering), a JD(U) statement said.
Basistha Narayan Singh said in the open discourse he and other party leaders took feedback from people about performance of the state government. State JD(U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh who was also present claimed the people showed keenness in the programme.
The 'parcha' (pamphlet) of JD(U) highlights in detail how Nitish Kumar took Bihar to greater heights after taking charge in 2005, he said. It lists measures taken to tighten law and order situation. More than 23,000 criminals have been punished by way of regular and speedy trial so far, the pamphlet said.
It also mentions work in the field of education, power, agriculture, welfare of minorities, SC&ST and women empowerment by reserving 50 per cent seats in local bodies among others.
A substantive portion of the pamphalet highlights how Narendra Modi government has gone back on its poll promises.
"Despite Nitish Kumar writing a new story of success in Bihar notwithstanding limited resources available, many people fell for lofty promises made by Narendra Modi during parliamentary election," the JD(U) pamphalet said.
It highlights how prime minister has forgotten promises to distribute Rs 15-20 lakh to every poor from black money brought back to the country.
The pamphlet lists non-fullfillment of poll promises of enhanced MSP to farmers, special category status and special assistance to Bihar.
It further mentions NDA government's alleged efforts to take away land of farmers through Land Acquisition legislation for which the government has issued ordinance three times.
